A face surfaces between lotus flowers and the dark ripple of water. Fingers catch the surface as if it were the edge of thin fabric. The familiar turns impossible here: water takes on form, and a quiet pond becomes the space of a strange dream.
In this design the softness of the petals sits beside a watchful gaze, the flow of the lines beside dense black. What is happening to the figure — is it rising from the depth, or trying to hide in it? The story stays open.
The composition is built for the chest or upper back: the central image follows the axis of the body, the flowers open to either side along its lines.
