Frequently Asked Questions
Booking & Appointment
How does booking at KishaTattoo work?
Send a request via the booking form or Instagram DM with your idea, desired style, and placement. Kisha will get back to you within 48 hours for an initial consultation.
How far in advance should I book?
For smaller projects, appointments within 2–4 weeks are often available. Large projects like backpieces or sleeves are usually planned 1–3 months in advance. Just reach out — we'll find a solution.
Is there a deposit?
Yes, a deposit is required for all projects. It will be deducted from the final price at your appointment. The amount is agreed individually during the consultation.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
Rescheduling is possible with at least 72 hours notice. Cancellations under 48 hours may result in loss of deposit. We appreciate early communication.
Prices & Payment
What does a tattoo cost at KishaTattoo?
All projects are billed by the hour. Smaller designs start from approx. €150–200 (hourly rate + minimum fee), large projects like sleeves or backpieces from €800–1200 per session. You'll receive an exact quote after the consultation.
Why does a good tattoo cost so much?
A tattoo is for life. Custom design, precise technique, and quality materials take time and expertise. Cheap tattoos cost more in the end — in cover-ups, corrections, and rework.
What payment methods are accepted?
Cash, bank transfer, and card payment. The deposit is made by bank transfer after the consultation. Cash payment on the day of the session is also accepted.
Preparation
How do I prepare for a tattoo session?
Be well-rested, hydrated, and fed. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen) 24 hours beforehand. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that provides easy access to the tattoo area.
Can I eat or drink during the session?
Absolutely! Bring snacks and drinks — especially during long sessions it's important to keep blood sugar stable and avoid circulation issues.
Can I bring someone with me?
One support person is welcome. For space reasons, please limit companions to one person.
I'm sick — should I still come?
No. If you have a cold, fever, or other infection, we'll reschedule. Your immune system needs all its resources for healing — we won't tattoo you.
Aftercare & Healing
How do I care for a fresh tattoo?
First 3–5 days: keep covered as instructed, gently clean with mild soapy water, apply a thin layer of recommended ointment (e.g. Bepanthen, Tattoo Goo). No sun, no swimming, no scratching. Full aftercare guide: /aftercare
When is a tattoo fully healed?
Surface healing takes 2–3 weeks. Full deep healing (dermal layer) takes 3–6 months. Only then can it be assessed whether touch-up work is needed.
Can I exercise after getting a tattoo?
Light activity is possible after 2–3 days. Intense sport, swimming pools, sauna, and direct sun only after full healing (minimum 2–3 weeks).
Styles & Design
What's the difference between Irezumi and Japanese Style?
Traditional Irezumi follows centuries-old composition rules: motifs like koi, dragons, and oni are aligned to the body's musculature, with clearly defined transitions. 'Japanese Style' is often a freer, more modern interpretation.
How long does a large Irezumi project take?
A full back: 40–80 hours over 10–20 sessions spanning 1–3 years. A full sleeve: 20–40 hours over 6–18 months. Healing breaks between sessions are a fixed part of the process.
Does KishaTattoo work with client design ideas?
Absolutely — custom design is the standard, not a special service. Kisha develops each motif individually for your body shape, skin tone, and personal story. Reference images help to refine your vision.
Is a cover-up tattoo possible?
Yes, cover-ups are possible. Feasibility depends on the size, darkness, and age of the existing tattoo. Send a photo with your enquiry — Kisha will assess the options.
